A 16-year-old boy was hospitalized early Tuesday after 17 rounds were fired into a DeLand home, police said.

Malik Hinson was shot in both legs and taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where he was in stable condition, according to the DeLand Police Department.
Police said officers responded to the Wright Court home just after 3:15 a.m. to find Hinson and his parents. The teen and his mother were in a bedroom.
Bullet holes were found throughout the residence, including the living room, windows, couches, walls and bedrooms. Investigators found bullet casings in the front yard that appeared to be from a higher-caliber firearm.
The parents were not hurt.
DeLand Police continue to investigate the drive-by shooting and are seeking a suspect, but no description was given out by authorities. Anyone with information is asked to call the department.
