Former Clinton communications director slams Trump for threatening trials on WikiLeaks

Former Clinton Communications Director Philippe Reines on CNN: “We were going to have subpoenas. Tucker’s article was going to be scrutinized, scrutinized under oath. I don’t feel like this is an indictment, this is just a display of their priorities.”

“A number of people are outraged because it’s really revealing and it does ring alarm bells, and I hope that these lawmakers are listening. We are in a multi-tiered system of checks and balances, and if you try to interfere with a court’s judgement, that is a violation of that system and that’s no small thing.”

On Tucker Carlson’s talk show: Carlson noted the protests: “We talked about this with Jeffrey Sachs, and we also talked about it in the State of the Union. He is wrong. And if he thinks there is going to be a public shaming, we will give him the public shaming of all time, I can tell you that. This is what he does not want, and that is what today’s protesters are trying to do, we’re going to give them the public shaming they want.”

If you go after one of them, it’s a pretty serious matter.”
