Canadian police have arrested a 26-year-old man for voyeurism after a model allegedly found a camera in the change room of a downtown Toronto hotel, police said Thursday.
The incident occurred Saturday at a Comfort Inn in the city’s downtown core. The 25-year-old woman told authorities she discovered what appeared to be a camera inside the change room, Toronto police spokesperson Allyson Douglas-Cook said.
The model gave Toronto police a description of the suspect and a security photo of him, and officers found him in the hotel.
Police said he admitted to using a camera to take a photo and video of a woman from the waist down. The man was arrested and charged with voyeurism.
“He took it from the corner of her back to the top of her head as he walked,” according to Douglas-Cook.
The man was identified through hotel guest surveillance and he is expected to appear in court later this month.
“The integrity of this investigation has been maintained with meticulous attention to detail,” Det. Insp. Mike Earl said in a statement. “The integrity of the investigation takes precedence over making a quick arrest. We are more than satisfied with the swift action and execution of the investigation.”
Police haven’t released the man’s name, but CNN has confirmed that the man is Ibrahim Zoubi.
CNN affiliate CP24 identified Zoubi as the man who told police he found the camera in the hotel change room.
