Newport police nab convicted felon on drug, gun charges


NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — Police in Newport arrested a Windfall man Thursday night after they discovered him with heroin, they usually say he admitted to being a felon in possession of a handgun.

On a tip, police discovered Jhonmar Roman, 24, getting into a housing improvement about eight:eleven p.m. and pulled him over. In response to Newport Police Sgt. Joseph C. Carroll, Roman admitted to police on the scene that he had 10 grams of heroin (with a road worth of $900) within the waistband of his pants.

Police additionally stated Roman admitted he had a firearm at his house on Corinth Road in Windfall, and gave consent to let police search the house. Brokers from the Drug Enforcement Administration have been introduced in to help the investigation.

Roman is now dealing with federal expenses of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of heroin and cocaine with intent to distribute. He was transported to U.S. District Courtroom in Windfall.
