Penn State frats lose recognition after alcohol violations

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. —

Two fraternities have misplaced their recognition after what Penn State described as “a number of violations of college guidelines.”

In an announcement Saturday, college officers say Delta Upsilon has misplaced its recognition till the top of the spring semester. The college says Pi Lambda Phi won’t be acknowledged till the top of 2019. The punishment means the fraternities can’t take part in Greek life occasions similar to Homecoming or the college’s dance marathon.

The college says the fraternities “violated college expectations” after making alcohol obtainable throughout social occasions involving underage college students. Officers didn’t specify when the violations occurred.

Neither fraternity responded to a request for remark early Monday.
